Women's Economic Activation Program completedPartners-Georgia in cooperation with Partners Polska Foundation has completed the implementation of the joint project “Strategy Against Poverty: Building Capacity of Gori Organizations to Implement Programs on Women's Economic Activation" financed by the Polish Aid Program 2009 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. In frames of the project two publications have been produced: „How to help to find employment: a guide for NGOs and local institutions working in a field of unemployment reduction" and the research report “Unemployed Women on Gori Labor Market". Limited amount of both books is still available for interested persons and organizations at Partners-Georgia office.

Trainings for Civil Registry Partners-Georgia will conduct trainings for the staff of the Civil Registry on Service Plus, aiming at improvement of citizens' service at their offices. According to the contract, Partners-Gerogia's consultants will train up to 100 persons during January-February, 2010.

Institutional Performance Assessment and Technical Assistance of National Center for Disease ControlBased on the request from the USAID-funded FORECAST program (being implementing by World Learning) Partners-Georgia in cooperation with two local organizations (UNA-Georgia and ARC) and experts from World Services of La Crosse, Inc. is providing institutional performance assessment and technical assistance to the Natioal Center for Disease Control Center. The goal of the project is to identify performance gaps and develop recommendations to enhance an institutional capacity of the Center. The project is implementing in two phases: phase I - 11.09.2009 - 21.12.2009, aimed institutional assessment of NCDC and it is completed. phase II aims to plan recommended interventions with NCDC management and staff members by workshops and will be held in January 2010.

Consensus Facilitation Sessions In Samtskhe-Javakheti RegionIn frames of the IFP project, Partners-Georgia trainer-consultants conducted consensus facilitation sessions In Samtskhe- Javakheti region. In December 15, Akhalkalaki session was devoted to improving access to higher education for the representatives of ethnic minority of Javakheti Region, while the session conducted in Akhaltsikhe in December 16 was about Promoting the process of cooperation between local municipalities and civil society. Both consensus facilitation sessions brought together various stakeholders to the issues, including representatives of local governments, NGOs, media. As a result of the meetings, two action plans were developed. In Spring 2010 the summary round table will be organized in Tbilisi, with the participation of Samtskhe-Javakheti region representatives, local and international partner organizations and project donors. The consensus facilitation sessions were organized in frames of the IFP project, being implemented by PDCI in Brussels and funded by the EU. Partners-Georgia is a contractor for holding cooperative planning activities in Samtskhe-Javakheti region.

Participatory Civic Monitoring Tools for Local GovernmentsIn December 3-4 and 10-11, Partners Georgia conducted trainings on Civic Monitoring Tools (Citizen Report Card) for the representatives of local government structures of four regions of East Georgia (Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Gardabani and Marneuli). The major goal of trainings was to help local government structures in implementation of new perspectives and visions dealing with local population relationship. Participants increased their knowledge about one of the important civic monitoring tools - citizen report card (its structure, principles of designing, execution of sampling process, rules of data analysis and interpretation). Training was evaluated as successful by participants, they considered new tools as quite useful to be used in future in their regions. Trainings were financially supported by the UNDP.

20th Anniversary of PDC in Washington DCPartners for Democratic Changes celebrated its 20th anniversary through whole week of events and Innovations for Tomorrow Conference. The week starting from November 9, 2009, convened practitioners and academics from the numbers of fields, where Partners has extensive experience of working in up to 20 countries by today. Sofiko Shubladze, Director of Partners-Georgia, participated in the events and the conference, and was a panelist of the workshop on Civic Monitoring - Role for Citizens to Promote Transparency and Improved Decision Making.

Technical Assistance to the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation of GeorgiaBased on the request from the USAID-funded FORECAST program implemented by World Learning Inc. Partners-Georgia has been selected to provide technical assistance aimed to support relevant MRA staff and the Ministry overall, to develop an ability to communicate clearly, consistently, accurately, constructively and in a timely manner to IDPs, and to all stakeholders, both within the government and in the local and international communities.The technical assistance for the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation was designed and implemented in July-October 2009. Two senior consultants from Partners-Georgia - Lela Giorgobiani and Vazha Kvernadze were involved in implementation of training and consultation component while Kakha Magradze, Executive Director of consulting company GEPRA was contracted by Partners-Georgia to serve as communication strategy document drafting consultant.

Effective Public speaking trainings for Ministry of Justice's Public ProsecutorsPartners-Georgia trainers were contracted to conduct effective Public speaking trainings for Ministry of Justice's and Regional Prosecutor's office's top-level managers. The main objective of the training is to improve participants' skills in public speaking, particularly, to enable them to carefully plan the presentation, define the objectives and formulate effective and precisely targeted messages with due consideration of each specific audience's peculiarities.

Sixth phase of the Small Grants to Schools Program to be launchedStarting from September 22, Partners-Georgia will continue its work in frames of British Petroleum contract by launching the of the sixth, final phase of the Small Grants to Schools along Western Route Export Pipeline (Baku-Supsa) Program. Partners-Georgia trainers will conduct Proposal Writing and Conflict Management / Team Work training sessions to the boards of trustees in 13 schools of Sachkhere and Chiatura districts of Georgia.

Trainings in VTB BankUnder the contract with VTB Bank, trainer-consultants from Partners-Georgia conducted the Negotiation Trainings for the middle management of the Bank. Training program was designed to acquaint participants with various techniques and methods of negotiations, improve argumentation and persuasion skills. Similar trainings are scheduled for two more groups of managers in September.

Summer Camp for Ethnic MinoritiesOn August 2-8, 2009, Partners-Georgia organized Summer Camp for Diversity Management Trainers. The camp took place in Likani. The major goal of the camp was to popularize the main principles and attitudes towards Diversity Management issues among young people from multi-ethnic regions of Georgia, which itself would promote the process of forming integrated and tolerant society. 20 young trainers form Akhalgori, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions of Georgia participated in the training of trainers during the summer school. As a result, participants of the Summer School/Camp will be able to conduct trainings on Diversity Management and Tolerance for different groups in their corresponding regions.

Training of Trainers in Participatory Civic Monitoring and Advocacy In frames of the contract made between the Eurasia partnership foundation and Partners for Democratic Change International, two trainer-consultants of the network - Ariola Agolli (Partners Albania) and Milena Mitagvaria (Partners-Georgia) - conducted two training programs for NGO representatives from East and West Georgia. Training program was aiming to increase participants' capacities in citizen monitoring tools including participatory budgeting, citizen report card, citizen advisory commissions and advocacy as well as to train them as trainers in all above topics. During the next month Partners-Georgia consultants will continue to work with program participants providing them with the follow-up coaching and monitoring as they deliver their first trainings to intended audiences.

Casino "Ajara" trainings launchedIn frames of the contract with Casino "Ajara" Lela Giorgobiani and Vazha Kvernadze, Partners-Georgia senior trainer-consultants, will deliver basic Management trainings to middle management of casino. Trainings are scheduled from June 15 till June 19, 2009. The next series of trainings is planned for the period of June 29 - July 3. Training program is designed to improve personnel management skills of targeted managers.

Effective Presentation and Media Communication trainings for National Bank of GeorgiaUnder the contract with National Bank of Georgia Partners-Georgia's trainer-consultants will conduct training and consultation sessions in Presentation and Media Communication skills for the top management of the bank. Intervention is designed to improve public speaking and presentation skills of the target audience, with special focus on effective TV presentations. Consultations with National Bank managers will continue until July 11.

Partners-Polska and Partners-Georgia cooperation continuesSimultaneously two joint projects of Partners Polska Foundation and Partners-Georgia have been awarded the grants from the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Poland. Both projects are targeting the development of Shida Kartli region and will be implemented in partnership with local (Gori) NGOs. First project named “Strategy against Poverty. Building capacity of the local organizations from Gori in order to enable them to carry out programs on women's economic activation" aims to improve the economic situation of local unemployed women while the second one, titled “Education as a local development tool. Support for education decentralization in Shida Kartli region" will build the capacity of local secondary schools' teachers by introducing them to the contemporary learning methodologies and sharing with them the experience of Polish colleagues.

Next phase of the Small Grants to Schools Program to be launchedStarting from March 16, 2009 Partners-Georgia will start the implementation of the fifth phase of the Small Grants to Schools along Western Route Export Pipeline (Baku-Supsa) Program. This time Partners-Georgia will conduct Proposal Writing and Conflict Management / Team Work training sessions to the boards of trustees in 18 schools of Samtredia, Vani and Lanchkhuti districts of Georgia. Program is funded by the British Petroleum.

Desk Book for Kvemo Kartli Regional and Local Officials finalizedPartners-Georgia has finalized the text for the Desk Book for Regional and Local Officials on Effective Communication and Leadership that will be published in frames of the UNDP-funded program "Enhancing Capacity of civil servants and local authorities of municipalities of Kvemo Kartli region and Regional Office of the Governor". Desk Book will be published by the UNDP and handed out to the program target group representatives.

Caucasus Online trainings launchedIn frames of the contract from Caucasus Online Partners-Georgia trainers will deliver series of Effective Client Service (Service Plus) trainings to the call center and technical support operators of the company.
